WARREN, Maine (AP) - Police say a Belfast woman has died in a head-on traffic crash on U.S. Route 1 in Warren.
Knox County sheriff’s deputies say 72-year-old Blanche Foss was driving north at about 3 p.m. Monday when her vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound pickup truck hauling a camper.
Foss was pronounced dead before a helicopter could fly her to the hospital.
The occupants of the truck, a married couple from Edgecomb, were taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash and why Foss’ vehicle crossed the centerline remains under investigation.
