LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York man is charged with kidnapping, sexual abuse and other charges after police say he held a 24-year-old woman against her will in his home.

Lewiston Police say Tuesday that 67-year-old Iver Phallen subjected the woman to physical, mental and sexual abuse for an extended period of time after she agreed to go with him to his home on Thursday.

The woman woke up in her car in Buffalo Friday and was taken by a friend to a hospital.

Phallen was arrested Saturday and is being held in the Niagara County Jail without bail. He’s due in court Oct. 7. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.

In addition to kidnapping and sexual abuse, Phallen is charged with coercion, obstructing an airway, unlawful imprisonment and menacing.
