STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Police were seeking witnesses and continuing to investigate what caused a Penn State student driving a university hotel van to crash the vehicle and die.
State college police say 21-year-old Joshua Mejia (meh-HEE’-ah), of Bergenfield, New Jersey, was driving the van when it crashed and burned Sunday about 2 p.m.
The senior was driving the van for The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. He had dropped off a passenger at University Park Airport and was returning to the hotel when he apparently missed an exit ramp for the hotel and tried to make the turn anyway, hitting a sign post and a concrete barrier.
Mejia was wearing a seatbelt, but died of severe head and chest trauma.
