HOWELL, Mich. (AP) - Southeastern Michigan authorities have filed murder charges against a 69-year-old man they say fatally shot a 43-year-old man in a road rage incident.

Martin E. Zale of Howell was arraigned Thursday by video link from the Livingston County jail in Howell on an open murder charge. A magistrate ordered him held without bond until his next appearance Tuesday.

The Associated Press left a phone message Thursday seeking comment from defense lawyer Melissa Pearce.

The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus says Zale speeded past Derek Flemming, who was driving to his children’s school Tuesday afternoon. They say Flemming got out at an intersection and approached Zale’s car, where Zale shot him.

The newspaper says Zale had a concealed weapons permit.

It happened in Genoa Township, 45 miles west-northwest of Detroit.
