FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A 24-year-old man accused of shooting a Loveland police officer has pleaded not guilty.

The Coloradoan reports (https://noconow.co/YfugL9 ) Cody Powell pleaded not guilty Thursday to several charges, including attempted murder of a peace officer, assault and theft of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled to go to trial Feb. 2.

Prosecutors say Powell shot officer Garret Osilka (oh-SIL’-kuh) during a traffic stop March 4. The officer survived the shooting and is recovering.

In April, Judge Stephen Howard ordered that Powell be put on an “active GPS monitor” if he posts his $500,000 bond. As of Thursday, Powell was still being held at the Larimer County jail.
