YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - Three Eastern Michigan University football players have been charged with assaulting the cousin of a man convicted of killing teammate Demarius Reed.

The Ann Arbor News (https://bit.ly/1xhF9LO ) says court records show that Darius Scott, Quincy Jones and Jairockeis Jones are charged with aggravated assault. The charges involve Friday’s attack on 24-year-old Demarko Taylor.

The players have a pretrial hearing Monday. Eastern Michigan assistant athletic director Greg Steiner says they remain on the team during disciplinary proceedings.

Taylor was a prosecution witness at a probable cause hearing for Kristopher Pratt and Ed Thomas in the Oct. 18, 2013, robbery-slaying of Reed at an off-campus apartment in Ypsilanti. Reed was a 20-year-old Chicago native.

Taylor is Pratt’s cousin. Pratt pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

A jury acquitted Thomas.
