NEWCASTLE, England (AP) - Newcastle says it will likely be without Siem de Jong for a “number of months” after the Netherlands playmaker injured his right thigh in training with the Premier League side this week.

De Jong joined Newcastle from Ajax in the offseason and was viewed as a key member of Alan Pardew’s side this season.

De Jong played in Newcastle’s last two games after recovering from an injury in pre-season.
