LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Two colts are among three yearlings selling for at least $1 million each on the second day of Keeneland’s September sale.
Whisper Hill Farm paid Tuesday’s top price of $1.6 million for a colt from Unbridled’s Song, a half-brother to 2013 Preakness champion Oxbow and stakes winner Awesome Patriot.
Coolmore’s M.V. Magnier paid $1.3 million for a colt by War Front, one of three horses purchased for a combined $2.35 million in the session. Robert Krembil of Chiefswood Farm in Toronto bought a filly by Tapit-Super Espresso for $1 million.
Tuesday’s session brought $37.788 million for 121 yearlings with an average price of $312,298. Two-day sales are nearly $71 million with 241 horses sold, up from last year’s total of $69.6 million for 269 yearlings.
