WALHALLA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities are investigating what caused a small plane to crash in Upstate South Carolina injuring two people.

Area media outlets report the plane went down at a private runway near Walhalla about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. A man and a woman were removed from the plane and flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

There was no immediate report on their names or conditions although authorities said they were alert when they were taken to the hospital.

Authorities say it appears the two-seat airplane may have clipped some trees as it was coming in for a landing.
