BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A judge has ordered a pet cemetery slated for closure in Bismarck to remain open to the public until mid-April.

South Central District Judge Sonna Anderson delayed judicial action on visitation to Billie’s Meadow Pet Cemetery on Tuesday. The Bismarck Tribune (https://bit.ly/1EBQFVv ) reports she ordered the cemetery to stay open to pet owners until April 15, while she recovers from a March 25 surgery.

Owner Jarod Obering announced earlier this year that the pet cemetery would be closing within the next several months because he no longer has access to equipment needed for maintenance.

Pet owners with animals buried at Billie’s Meadow asked the judge for a preliminary injunction to maintain visiting rights while they pursue a civil lawsuit seeking to keep the cemetery open.
