YORK, S.C. (AP) - A homebuilding couple has been arrested on fraud charges in York County.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported (https://bit.ly/1F2il0A) that 50-year-old Robert Scott Kuhlkin and his 47-year-old wife Sherry Lynn Kuhlkin were arrested Tuesday.

The Kuhlkins are accused of keeping nearly $700,000 that three families paid them to build homes in Lake Wylie that were never completed.

They each face seven charges including breach of trust, failure to pay subcontractors and criminal conspiracy. It was not clear if they have attorneys to comment on the charges.

The Kuhlkins turned themselves in Tuesday after a months-long investigation of their business, Kuhlkin Builders Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Police say they took money from the families that were building homes that cost as much as $500,000 each.
