DONALDSONVILLE, La. (AP) - Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies say a 9-year-old boy was shot while he slept in his bed during a drive-by shooting in Donaldsonville.
Maj. Kevin Hanna said in a news release received by The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1G5aghk) the boy was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries that are not life threatening.
Hanna says multiple shots were fired into the boy’s home around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Hanna said sheriff’s investigators are trying to determine who was involved, why the shooting occurred and whether it was a random act or the home was targeted for some reason.
He says three other people in the house at the time of the shooting were not harmed.
