ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis health director Pam Walker is leaving her job after eight years.

Walker’s resignation was announced Tuesday. Mayor Francis Slay appointed health commissioner Melba Moore to serve as acting health director.

Slay says Walker played a pivotal role in securing a secondhand smoking bank, increasing physical activity in schools and developing a community health improvement plan.
