DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Two Iowa men who were wounded by gunfire are now facing charges because they police say they tried to mislead investigators.
The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1JCpgBT ) the two men went to the hospital late Friday for treatment of their wounds, which are not life-threatening.
The men told officers that they had been shot by someone in a car driving past them. But Davenport police say investigators determined the men were wounded while one of them handled a .40-caliber handgun.
Police say the incident happened in an apartment and both men were wounded by the same gunshot.
The men were both arrested on suspicion of filing false police reports. And one of the men is also charged with being a felon in possession of a gun.
