MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) - Federal money used to pay for a Moscow bus service could dry up in Congress doesn’t take action.

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports (https://is.gd/DNI7rD ) a program called Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century provides more than $227 billion in public transit dollars across the country, including money for the Moscow bus service.

Congress has a May 31 deadline to reauthorize the program that pays more than half the $680,000 yearly cost of the local transit system.

Officials in Moscow say the money helps pay for the city’s two fixed bus routes that provide 175,000 transit trips a year. They have been discussing adding a third route for travel between Moscow and Pullman.
