BALDWIN, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a Long Island man was killed when his car struck a utility pole and building, setting off a fire that engulfed his car.
Nassau County police say 42-year-old Gregory Balmir was declared dead at the scene Sunday morning.
Police say Balmir was driving southbound on Grand Avenue in Baldwin when he crossed over two lanes of traffic and struck the utility pole. They say the car caught fire and struck the building after crossing Kings Parkway.
