BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) - A former warehouse supervisor for a Southeast Texas school district, his wife and a friend have been sentenced after pleading guilty to a payroll scam.

Federal prosecutors say 44-year-old-Daryl Glenn Johnson, a former warehouse supervisor for the Beaumont Independent School District, was sentenced Monday to two years and nine months in prison. His wife, 38-year-old Erin Gipson Johnson, and 25-year-old Kailyn DeShondra Pete were both sentenced to five years of probation.

Daryl Johnson had pleaded guilty to conspiracy while Erin Johnson and Pete each pleaded guilty to fraud.

Prosecutors say Daryl Johnson placed his wife and Pete on the school district payroll as temporary warehouse employees, but neither woman worked there. Erin Johnson was paid about $194,000. Kailyn Pete was paid $90,000.

The three are also ordered to pay restitution.
