LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Greenbrier man has been charged with identity theft for allegedly living under a fraudulent name for nearly 20 years.

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas says 51-year-old William Marshall was arrested and arraigned on April 9 on charges of aggravated identity theft, misrepresentation of a social security number and providing a false statement to a federal agency.

The complaint against Marshall was unsealed Monday.

U.S. Attorney Chris Thyer says the investigation into Marshall began earlier this year when he applied for Social Security benefits under a false name in Conway.

The Office of the Inspector General_Social Security Administration investigators found the Marshall had been using another person’s identity for nearly 20 years and that he is a fugitive wanted in California.
