WANTAUGH, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a body of a man was found underneath a platform of a Long Island Rail Road station.

An MTA spokesman says the body was discovered Sunday morning in Wantagh between the track and the south side platform of the station.

Spokesman Salvatore Arena told Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1FEDPX8 ) that the body was not on the tracks but off to the side.

The body was spotted by the conductor of an eastbound train that left Penn Station at 6:25 a.m. He called MTA police.
