QULIN, Mo. (AP) - An autopsy found no evidence of foul play in the death of a southeastern Missouri man whose body was found last week in a drainage ditch.
Butler County Coroner Jim Akers tells the (Poplar Bluff) Daily American Republic (https://bit.ly/1COCxBR) that 40-year-old Jamie Ferrill of Doniphan appeared to have accidentally drowned.
Ferrill had been missing for five days before his body was found last Wednesday near where his truck and dog were located in a field near Qulin.
Authorities believe the truck may have been stuck in the field near the drainage ditch before Ferrill got out of the vehicle.
While investigators still are treating the case officially as a homicide, Akers says “nothing indicates it’s anything other than accidental.”
Toxicology tests are pending.
