ESSEX JUNCTION, N.H. (AP) - Authorities say a fire in a three-story home has displaced seven to 10 people and seriously injured one woman in Essex Junction, Vermont.
Firefighters had to cut a hole in the building, which had three units, to remove the injured woman on the second floor. She was unresponsive and taken to the intensive care unit at UVM Medical Center on Sunday. Her name and condition were not provided, but Fire Capt. James Kellogg told the Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/1amHDy0) she’s expected to recover.
Five others, including two residents, two firefighters and a police officer, were treated for smoke inhalation.
State police investigators are looking at the cause of the fire, which drew a response from six fire departments.
Red Cross volunteers provided support to the firefighters and residents.
