GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - A Goodyear man accused of fatally stabbing his wife while the couple’s seven children were home has pleaded not guilty.

Maricopa County prosecutor say 37-year-old John Leo Davis entered his plea Monday.

He was arrested last month on suspicion of first-degree murder and child abuse.

Authorities say 35-year-old Michele Davis has found March 26 in a pool of blood with at least 13 stab wounds in her back.

Goodyear police say John Davis allegedly slapped one of the couple’s children for playing video games and allegedly stabbed his wife after she confronted him about it.

They say the children witnessed at least part of the attack on their mother.

Court documents say the children saw their father chase their mother with a knife from the kitchen to the front door.
