CLEVELAND (AP) - The last of 10 defendants indicted in connection with a northeast Ohio dog-fighting ring has pleaded guilty to charges in federal court.
Fifty-six-year-old Alvin Banks pleaded guilty on Monday to five charges, three related to dog fighting, a felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to manufacture and distribute marijuana less than 50 plants. Banks is scheduled to be sentenced on June 30.
Authorities raided a home in Akron last November where they seized firearms, drugs and more than $52,000 in cash. Investigators found a blood-stained, dog-fighting ring and eight pit bulls, two of which had fresh wounds from a fight that finished just before the raid.
Bank’s attorney declined to comment on Monday.
