PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man is in critical condition after police say he was shot in the chest and back on the street in southwest Philadelphia.

Police say someone in a car opened fire on the 27-year-old around 5:45 p.m. Sunday on South 55th Street in the city’s Kingsessing section.

He’s hospitalized at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

Police tell WCAU-TV the man was shot about an hour after his ex-girlfriend confronted him while he visited his current girlfriend at a nearby grocery store where she works.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing.
