INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Marion County Coroner’s Office says an Indianapolis man died from multiple gunshots in an incident during which two police officers were injured.

The victim was identified Monday as 36-year-old Mack Long.

Police spokesman Officer Chris Wilburn said the shooting occurred Sunday afternoon when an officer pulled over a vehicle on a traffic stop and a man fled on foot. Wilburn says two officers caught up with the armed man after a short pursuit. The man was shot when the man alleged tried to grab one officer’s gun.

The officers involved in the shooting were identified as five-year veterans Kyle Flynn and Jered Hildlebaugh.

Police Chief Richard Hite said late Monday he didn’t know why Long didn’t cooperate with police during the chase, which remains under investigation. Authorities say the incident is on video made by a witness.
