NYPD arrests 81-year-old suspect in fatal stabbing

NEW YORK (AP) - The NYPD says it has arrested an 81-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of his relative’s ex-boyfriend.

The NYPD said Monday that Nicholas Diaz of Brooklyn has been arrested on a manslaughter charge.

Police say 21-year-old Kevin Rivera was killed early Sunday as he argued with his former girlfriend.

According to The New York Times (https://nyti.ms/1yoa8qN ), police said the older man had intervened in the argument.

The couple had recently separated and had just returned from their daughter’s first birthday party when the stabbing occurred.

Information on Diaz’s attorney was not immediately known.
