ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) - Ashland’s deputy chief of police has been elevated to the top spot on an interim basis.
The Mail Tribune newspaper reports (https://is.gd/DpcsR3 ) that Chief Terry Holderness is retiring from the position he’s held for eight years. The Ashland City Council confirmed last week that Deputy Chief Tighe O’Meara will be his replacement for now.
O’Meara told the council he’s honored to be interim chief and hopes to have the job longer than that.
City administrator Dave Kanner said the city has received 42 applications for the job, and the plans to start interviewing candidates in June.
