BEND, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say a 29-year-old man from Sisters, Oregon, died at the scene when his motorcycle struck a tree and fence after failing to negotiate a curve.

Sgt. Vance Lawrence of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office says excessive speed appears to be a factor in the Sunday night crash in Redmond that killed Shemaiah Gillan.

He says alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor, and the pavement was dry.
