HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania’s newest state representative is a Philadelphia Republican who won a special election last month.

Martina White was sworn in on Monday during a ceremony on the floor of the House of Representatives.

White is a financial adviser from the city’s northeast neighborhood and a graduate of Elizabethtown College.

She takes the seat held most recently by Brendan Boyle, a Democrat who was elected to Congress in November.

Her victory strengthens the House Republican majority and shifts the partisan balance to 120 to 83.
