WEATHERFORD, Texas (AP) - Weatherford police say more than $48,000 has been turned in after money flew out of an armored car and onto a Texas highway.
Police won’t say how much money was lost Friday on Interstate 20 when the passenger-side door of a Brinks truck accidentally opened, but Cmdr. Greg Lance told The Dallas Morning News (https://bit.ly/1JEhVSt ) on Monday that it was a substantial amount.
Traffic slowed to a crawl as the flurry of cash flew out. One motorist says he saw other drivers stopping in the middle of the road and collecting the cash.
Lance says all the money collected by police so far has been returned willingly.
Lance says, “We hope people will return the money. This is an ongoing investigation.”
