DENVER (AP) - Police don’t think the three students found with two handguns and some kind of device at a Denver middle school intended to harm anyone there.

The boys were arrested Friday after students reported them to officials, causing a lockdown at Skinner Middle School.

Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez told The Denver Post (https://dpo.st/1CQcZV3) Monday that investigators don’t think they were trying to hurt anyone but police haven’t released any details about why the boys had the weapons.

The update came as several dozen students and parents rallied at the school to thank teachers, staffers and police for their response. Cmdr. Paul Pazen (PAY’-son) said it was parents and students who ensured the outcome was a good one.

Organizers say the turnout was good considering students had the day off for teacher planning.
