CINCINNATI (AP) - A public memorial service is set for college basketball player Lauren Hill in the Cincinnati arena where she made a memorable layup while fighting an inoperable brain tumor.

The service will be Monday night at Xavier University’s 10,000-seat basketball arena. It’s where a sold-out crowd saw her play last November in a game that was pushed ahead two weeks because of her deteriorating condition.

The nineteen-year-old died Friday at a Cincinnati hospital after playing in four games for Mount St. Joseph this past season.

Her inspirational fight helped raised some $1.5 million for cancer research.

Hill said during her battle with cancer that she wanted to teach people how to live in the moment because the next moment is never promised.
