WINSLOW, Maine (AP) - The town of Winslow has asked a federal judge for summary judgment of a lawsuit brought by a resident who alleges excessive force by three town police officers.

William Sadulsky sued in January 2014, claiming he suffered physical and psychological injuries at the hands of the officers who responded to a noise complaint at his home in January 2012.

The suit alleges one officer forced his way into the home and used his Taser repeatedly against Sadulsky without provocation. Sadulsky was arrested and charged with assaulting two officers.

The Kennebec Journal (https://bit.ly/1DaXmuz ) reports that the town filed a motion for summary judgment, which allows a judge to decide a case based on law and on legal precedent when there are no questions of fact that must be decided by a jury.
