BOSTON (AP) - A Boston man is on trial for his role in the fatal shooting of another man as he got off a bus two years ago.

Testimony in the first-degree murder trial of 24-year-old Jamel Bannister continues Monday in Suffolk Superior Court.

Prosecutors say Bannister did not open fire on victim Courtney Jackson as he exited a bus at Dudley station in February 2013, but was an accomplice of the man who did. That man, Brian Cooper, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Bannister had a gun but couldn’t get a shot off.

Bannister’s attorney says his client was present when Jackson was shot but had nothing to do with it. He says Bannister did not know Cooper.
