LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A University of Wyoming faculty senate committee report says some faculty, staff and administrators believe there are systemic problems preventing the school from being successful.

UW Faculty Senate Chair Ed Janak says the committee’s roughly 1,600-word report resulted from three months of work charged with the broad task of improving the university.

The four-member committee consisted of past chairs of the faculty senate. It talked to some 70 people who comprised “focus groups” of faculty, administrators and staff.

It reports a perceived need for greater transparency in hiring practices and trustee appointments; a “marginalization” of administrators and faculty; a lack of vision; and a pervasive problem with communication.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1COZftq ) that the UW board of trustees has received a copy of the report.
