LAGRANGE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Lenoir County have arrested a 20-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl in connection with the stabbing death of the girl’s mother.

Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram told local media outlets that 20-year-old Roderick Wyche and the teenager are both charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Ingram said Wyche and the teenager met at a local library and began a relationship which the girl’s mother was opposed to. According to Ingram, the two suspects devised a plan to kill the woman, who was stabbed with a kitchen knife and was found dead at the scene on Sunday.

The sheriff said the teenager has been charged as an adult, but the district attorney’s office must decide whether to try her as an adult.
