PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Two 12-year-old Barrington girls are facing kidnapping charges after they allegedly lured a 15-year-old girl into one of their homes before assaulting her.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1Oxauzf) the girls were charged Thursday and held at the Rhode Island Training School until Monday, when they appeared in Family Court in Providence on charges of felony assault with a wooden brush, simple assault, conspiracy and kidnapping.

Barrington police Chief John LaCross says the victim was invited to a sleepover Wednesday at the home of one of the girls, where they slapped the victim, struck her with a wooden brush and smeared makeup on her face. One girl allegedly took the victim’s clothes during the attack.

LaCross says the victim’s mother contacted police. He says the family of one of the girls was cooperative.
