CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says five people were rescued from a stranded boat in a South Texas bay.

The Corpus Christi Caller-Times (https://bit.ly/1DXYHII ) reports the Coast Guard Station Port Aransas received a call late Saturday about a marooned, 22-foot recreational boat with five people aboard in Baffin Bay. The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department was able to establish communication with the people onboard after the station’s staff lost contact.

A Coast Guard aircrew rescued three women and left a handheld radio with two men who requested to stay on the boat.

The Coast Guard says the women were flown to the station, and the men were rescued with commercial assistance Sunday morning.
