DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - An Altoona motorcyclist has died after he struck a car pulling into a Des Moines highway from a residential driveway.

The Des Moines Police Department says the collision occurred just before 6 p.m. Monday on Broadway Avenue in Des Moines. A Polk County deputy arrived on the scene and began administering CPR to 43-year-old Kenneth Chapman.

Chapman was transported by ambulance to Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where he later died.

Police say a woman pulled out of a driveway to head westbound on Broadway Avenue. The woman told police that she didn’t see the eastbound motorcycle and accelerated to clear the eastbound lane when Chapman collided with the rear of her car. Chapman was ejected from his motorcycle.

The woman was ticketed for failure to yield when entering a highway.
