ELKO, Nev. (AP) - School trustees in Elko are being asked to let a contractor withdraw from a flawed $20 million bid for a new West Wendover elementary school.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports (https://bit.ly/1FQvjlb ) that at a $2.1 million miscalculation by low bidder B&H Construction of Henderson means the school district might have to spend an additional $2.8 million on the project.

The issue is scheduled for consideration Tuesday by the Elko County School Board.

The newspaper says the next-lowest bid was just under $23 million by Ascent Construction of Centerville, Utah. Pace Contracting had the high bid at $23.6 million.

Elko County Superintendent Jeff Zander says the overall cost of a downsized West Wendover project is estimated at less than $30 million.
