LOS ANGELES (AP) - Home health care workers are gathering in downtown Los Angeles for a march and rally for better wages.

The union representing the workers says Tuesday’s march is in support of putting them on a path to making a minimum of $15 per hour.

The march begins at Olvera Street and moves to Grand Park in the center of downtown, where workers will gather for a rally.

The union has been in negotiations with Los Angeles County since last month.

The march’s organizers say that despite performing the crucial task of caring for the elderly and people with disabilities at home, most such workers in LA County live in poverty.
