PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A 43-year-old Portland man has been accused of stealing nearly $60,000 worth of tools from his employer, Leatherman Tool Group, before he resigned last September.

Prosecutors allege the man stole more than 800 items and sold some of the tools on Craigslist.

The Oregonian reports that Hai Loc Vu entered not guilty pleas Monday to first-degree aggravated theft and first-degree theft charges.

An affidavit filed in court says the employer told police that Vu resigned after he had checked out an “unusually high number” of flashlights and other multi-tools. The document says Vu denied he traded Leatherman tools on the Internet, or that he ever checked out the tools from his past employer.

Prosecutors say a Feb. 25 search of the man’s home turned up 817 Leatherman tools valued at nearly $60,000.

His next court date is June 1.
