WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington Police have charged a man with gun offenses after officers say he was walking with a loaded handgun.

Authorities say the officers were on patrol on Vandever Avenue on Monday when they tried to stop a man, who police say fled on foot.

Police say after a brief foot chase, officers caught up with the man and took him into custody. Authorities say he had a loaded .40 caliber Springfield Armory “XD-40” handgun.

Thomas Bransford IV was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and other offenses.
