WESTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a 26-year-old motorcyclist has died after striking a guardrail in Westhampton.

The Northwestern district attorney’s office identified him Tuesday as Gregory Asher of Chester.

Asher was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the hospital after the accident at about 3:30 p.m. Monday.

There were no witnesses and it does not appear as if any other vehicles were involved. A passing motorist came upon the scene and alerted authorities.

Police say Asher was westbound on Route 66 when the accident occurred on a curve. He was thrown over the guardrail into the woods while the motorcycle came to rest in the road.
