ALBANY, Ore. (AP) - Linn County authorities have identified an elderly woman who died after her car got stuck in the mud at a closed logging gate.

Undersheriff Jim Yon says the woman found outside the vehicle Monday morning was 90-year-old Ellen Mazzeo of Gates, Oregon. He says she drove up Green Mountain Road for an unknown reason and apparently tried to turn around at the logging gate.

Mazzeo used a cane and investigators learned that she had a history of falling. Investigators believe she fell on the gravel road, was unable to get back on her feet and succumbed to the elements.

Her body was taken to a funeral home in Stayton.
