PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Paré (pah-REE’) has vowed that officials will find whoever tossed a vodka bottle striking an officer at a Providence College hockey championship celebration.
The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1FQ2NA6 ) that Paré said Monday that words can’t describe how angry he was when he was notified that a patrol officer was hit in the head Saturday night, causing a concussion and forehead gashes.
He said, “Whoever that person is who threw that bottle, we’re going to hunt you down.”
The Rev. Brian J. Shanley, president of Providence College, said the college is working with police and conducting its own investigation, which includes viewing video that captured the incident.
The Providence College men’s hockey team beat Boston University 4-3 for its first national championship.
