ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - A planned $24.3 million renovation to the University of Michigan’s School of Music Theatre & Dance is expected to get a $5 million boost.
The Ann Arbor News reports (https://bit.ly/1zd4mTR ) the increased funding would help create a 4,000-square-foot music laboratory for teaching and research. The lab would help faculty and students learn more about the uses of technology in creating, recording and disseminating music.
The revised project also includes a common area with meeting and study space as well as furnishing and equipment for the area and the lab. The original plans for the Earl V. Moore Building renovation and Brehm Pavilion project were approved in 2013.
Construction is expected to be completed in the fall. The Board of Regents is to vote Thursday on the proposed changes.
