MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Gov. Peter Shumlin has appointed a new member and reappointed three others to the 11-member Vermont Economic Progress Council.

Shawn Straffin of West Burke will join the board that authorizes job creation tax credits, municipal tax increment financing districts and oversees the Windham County Economic Development Program.

Straffin is an entrepreneur and head of production development, design, marketing and technologies for Lyndon Furniture.

Shumlin gave three members of the board new terms ending in March of 2019. They are Stephan Morse of Newfane, Emma Marvin of Hyde Park, and John Davis of Williston. Morse will continue as chairman.
