DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A prosecutor in south Alabama says his office will review a fatal police-involved shooting in front of an animal shelter.

Houston County District attorney Doug Valeska told the Dothan Eagle (https://bit.ly/1DEFlWR ) that he received an investigative report from state authorities on the shooting of 30-year-old Robert Earl Lawrence and plans to review it within the next 30 days.

Authorities have said Lawrence considered himself a sovereign citizen and became disorderly after dropping off a stray animal at a shelter and being asked to show identification in late December.

Dothan police said Lawrence was repeatedly told to calm down, and was eventually told that he was being arrested. Authorities say there was a physical struggle and Lawrence was shot in his abdomen.
