PITTSBURG, N.H. (AP) - A snowmobiler stuck in deep snow in northern New Hampshire was rescued after hours of attempting to get out, then was cited for operating the vehicle off an established trail.
Lt. Wayne Saunders of the Department of Fish and Game said Todd Twine of Bedford may incur the cost of the rescue if his actions are found to be reckless. It’s illegal to ride anywhere, other an approved snowmobile trail, without written permission from a landowner.
The 42-year-old Twine was riding in the Rump Mountain area of Pittsburg when he got stuck Monday night and couldn’t get out.
Twine walked through waist-to-chest-deep snow for about a quarter of a mile until he came to a trail, where a conservation officer met him. He was tired and wet, but otherwise uninjured.
